Half Blood Who?

Did they really think that just the name of Harry Potter was going to let them get away with a lousy movie? Alright so it broke all records on the premier, but that just goes to show what high expectations people had from the movie. And man did they crush those expectations underfoot.

So what kind of audience were they targeting when they shifted the entire focus of the story from the fight between good and evil to the raging of adolescent hormones? - to put it in their own words! It obviously was a deliberate shift; nobody could make that kind of mistake. I'm sure the avid readers of J. K. Rowlings novel, one of her best in the Harry Potter series, will agree that a lot of teenage relationship issues is not what they had expected or hoped to see.

What irks the most, I guess, is that the most crucial part of the story, the climax, the battle of the light and the dark, the test of true loyalty, was conveniently and unequivocally banished from the movie. What in the name of Dumbledore were they thinking? Were they thinking? Heaven Knows.

All I know is that the only thing that kept me sitting in that seat all through the awkward scenes between the teenagers-in-love was the expectation of seeing some real wizarding action in the end. And not to mention the 125 bucks I spent on the ticket. What we just saw, ladies and gentlemen, was not an abridged version of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It was a failure, a mutilation, a downright disappointment.

  1. So you finally watched it,eh? Yeah i know. I warned you about it even. I toh started believing that they might not even show the cave part. And instead of incorporating that whole 'burning the burrow' part and a lot of other insignificant things they could have shown the main parts of the book. But I don't know.

Mom says they may not have shown all the magical part because it would ahve cost very much. But I just can't do with that excuse.

  2. Well I haven't read the book. And I can tell you, I never noticed when the climax came and went. So you have it. The movie wasn't that great.

  3. Well even Baj agrees that it wasn't that great so it's decided. Maybe we should stop thinking about it. And maybe we should think thrice before watching the 7th movie. Because we had already thought twice for this one.
